  1. Rene does a good job of portraying her need to mentalize vulnerable emotions rather than feeling her feelings. I agree with her “research” about how it is necessary to develop the courage to be vulnerable.

    In my own life when I tell a loved one that I am feeling vulnerable and want that person to listen to my vulnerable feelings with sensitivity, that is new territory for me. I am setting a boundary and genuinely connecting with myself and with the other person.

    This is how I create emotional safety for myself. If I don’t speak up for what I want, the other person will not know what I need and want. When I find the courage to say what I want, it is wonderful.
