What is Transformational Coaching?
Transformation Coaching draws on a variety of modalities to assist you in bringing your life visions into reality. It is guided deep inquiry, deep conversation, and discovery that leads you beyond your perceived limitations, mistaken beliefs and misguided behaviors. It facilitates the clearing of that which blocks who you really are.
A masterful transformation coach has impeccable vision and clearly sees your magnificence…your greatness. Through his eyes you will look at yourself in an entirely new way. He is adept at helping you to realize and develop your unique gifts and strengths
What is the difference between transformational life coaching and psychotherapy?
Traditional Psychotherapy is the diagnosis and treatment of mental and emotional disorders and concentrates on repairing damage within a disease model of human functioning. It is often preoccupied with repairing the worst things in life and is usually more focused on the past than the present or the future. Some people achieve self-understanding and emotional healing through therapy. While others may get stuck in the past, feeling like victims to whatever has happened to them. Since I am not a psychotherapist, I do not provide diagnosis, cure or medical treatment of emotional and mental disorders. These types of issues must be addressed by qualified health professionals. (I am happy to make referrals if needed.) Refer to my disclosure for more information.
Transformational Life Coaching assumes you are whole, healthy, capable and resourceful, and it aims to build positive qualities such as your capacity for love, high talent, wisdom, perseverance, spirituality and courage. It invites you to take full responsibility for your life so you are empowered to find positive solutions to your life challenges. It is focused primarily on PRESENT time, on how your life energy feels in the moment, and how to improve on it so you become naturally inspired to take the passionate, pivotal action that is right for you. A transformational coach may work with emotional material, but more from a discovery and reframing perspective. He may even touch on the past, but only if it comes up as a result of practicing new ways of being NOW to create a better future.
Are you a Traditional Life Coach?
No. Traditional Life coaching helps you to determine goals and supports you to take the action steps in order to accomplish those goals. It is about getting things done. Many of the traditional models of coaching are based solely on action and results and leave the essential being behind. The results from this type of coaching generally are not transformative and may fade over time. As a transformational coach I add a unique dimension to coaching in that I am masterful at exploring with you your deep inner patterns and revealing the very core interpretations and beliefs that are creating and supporting your current life reality.
With me, you WILL be delving into your most essential being, where all of the best of you is waiting to be accessed and developed. My transformational coaching supports and guides you in becoming clear and energetically aligned with your most fulfilling desires. As a result, you will feel more naturally inspired and eager to move into the organized and timely action that makes a real difference in your life.
How do I know if I need you as my transformational coach?
This is why I give a complimentary session so we can decide if we will work well together. Most likely, you will benefit from my support if:
* You feel something is missing in your life, and you hunger for deeper levels of fulfillment
* You have an inner critic who works overtime to punish you
* You know what you need to be doing but are stuck in resistance (fear or uncertainty)
* You feel lost about how to cultivate a lasting relationship or you want to attract your ideal partner
* You feel frustrated, overwhelmed, tired, stressed or uninspired
* You are experiencing communication conflicts
* You want to learn skills to clear negative beliefs, patterns and emotions so you can function more effectively in your life
* You want to discover and develop your unique gifts and strengths
What happens in a session with Val?
Sessions are booked ahead of time and can be done in person or by telephone. They are usually 60 minutes long. All sessions are held in strict confidence, and offered in a supportive setting. Your feelings will always be respected. During your initial consult you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions and get to know me and my style of coaching and spiritual counseling. I will also be asking questions and getting a sense of where you are, what you want and need to accomplish and what your level of commitment is for improving your life. Read More>
What are the types of clients you work with?
I work very well with motivated individuals, couples, families and groups who are ready to make positive, lasting changes and are willing to learn and apply new skills for overcoming challenges and improving communication. Although my clients come from a variety of backgrounds and professions, they tend to be educated and spiritually inspired.
Many of them are focused on wellness, personal development, the environment and sustainable living. They are interested in learning about the interconnections of mind, body and spirit. They desire to fulfill their life’s deepest purpose and to experience meaningful joy. My ideal clients want to provide service to others in ways that are in alignment with their own values and that help to advance consciousness. They are eager to learn, and they understand the importance of working on their inner levels in order to achieve their dreams.

What are your hours?
Our typical workday is 9:00 to 6:30 pacific time, Monday through Friday. There are five client appointment times each day: 9:00, 10:30, 12:00, 4:00 and 5:30. Occasionally, I will schedule evening or weekend morning sessions for those clients who aren’t available at the above times. Check in with us by telephone or email and we will usually get back to you within 48 hours.
Are you available for public speaking and workshops?
Yes. I often travel in order to facilitate group workshops and to teach classes. I am also available for larger personal growth seminars. I have led 1-day, 2-day, 3-day, 5-day and 7-day events. I have given advance-training seminars in Sedona, the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and Canada. Leave me your contact info and we can discuss the details.
How long does the average coaching relationship last?
My coaching programs are specific to each client’s needs, and therefore the program lengths really vary. Occasionally, one session will be enough, depending on what you want to accomplish and what your blocks are. However, for those long-standing patterns, it will most likely take longer. Many of my clients will commit to a package of at least 10 sessions to support a more thorough change of their negative perceptions and beliefs and a more integrated development of their new positive behaviors.
I also have many clients who work with me 1 or 2 times a month, ongoing, or as the need arises. It is quite common to successfully complete a specific coaching program with me and then to enroll into another one at a later time when a new goal achievement is desired.
Relationship Coaching Questions
Why do I need relationship coaching if I’m single?
You are in the best of all positions! What a wonderful opportunity you have to plan ahead and consciously design the fulfilling relationship that is right for you. This is the IDEAL time to not only expand your knowledge and develop new skills, but also to learn from your past mistakes so that you don’t repeat them.
Things have become very intense with my partner! What do we do?
When emotions build into intensity, I have found that it is very helpful to allow things to calm down before trying to communicate again. Otherwise, emotions seem to accelerate and no constructive communication can be established. Letting things go and then coming back together will help rekindle a constructive approach. When you are uncertain about what to do and you don’t want things to intensify further, it might be wise to give me a call. That is one of the reasons why I am available by telephone so guidance can be given in a more timely way.
What do I do if my partner doesn’t want to get relationship coaching with me?
I recommend that you start with yourself first anyway. You will learn new communication skills, and you will begin to feel better about yourself. As a result, your partner may notice a positive change within you and may begin to trust the educational coaching process more. This may encourage your partner to join in.
